Got the Winter Scaries? We Know the Perfect Cure
Winter cabin fever can hit you hard. I don’t know about all of you, but during these long, chilly months, when the sun sets early, I begin to feel a bit out of sorts—missing the sun-kissed look that gives me a rush of energy and confidence. When this happens, there’s only one cure— did someone say SPRAY TAN?!
Lucky for me, one of the newest giveBeauty pros in my area specializes in delivering that seamless glow. Enter… Solvita.
Jordan specializes in organic, age-preventing ingredients that glide onto the skin with perfect precision and no streakiness.
The Preparation:
After booking, Jordan sent me a thorough and cute PDF with some pre-appointment prep to review 24 hours before the spray. The steps were as follows:
- Make sure all waxing, mani/pedis, shaving and exfoliating is done 24 hours before the appointment. (It’s a common misconception to exfoliate right before the appointment - but the process actually starts a 24 hour skin shedding process and it’s important that it concludes before the spray for a seamless application).
- Avoid using barriers such as soaps, shower products, lotions/oils, and perfumes before spraying.
- Make sure to wear dark, comfortable, loose - fit clothing to your appointment.
- Show up with makeup free skin.
- Make sure to pack an umbrella if the weather calls for it - you don’t want your glow melting off in the rain!
When I got to the appointment, Jordan had the tent all set up, with the products laid out so I knew exactly what was going on my skin—I value transparency in my beauty products above all else, so this was huge for me. The best part… she uses all Aviva products with antiaging benefits.
She made me feel very comfortable—you could tell just by the introduction how much she values being thorough in her process. After taking off all my loose-fit clothing (some old sweatpants and a sweatshirt from my high school days that somehow survived numerous closet cleanouts throughout the years), she told me to rub some lotion on my hands and feet so they wouldn’t come out with crazy dark spots.
Throughout the spray, she had me put my feet and arms in different positions so she could cover every area—I felt like I was doing a Superman stance on some occasions. She also applied her own homemade drying powder on my elbows, knees, and a few other areas so there wouldn’t be any streaky or dark patches. She made the powder out of arrowroot powder, white rice flour, a touch of cocoa powder for color, and drops of essential lavender oil for scent.
The whole spray took about 20 minutes total, then I air-dried for a minute and carefully put my loose-fit clothes back on. Jordan specializes in express spray tans, so luckily I only had to keep the tan on for anywhere between one to two hours, depending on the result and level of darkness I wanted. Not having to leave the tan on overnight made me thrilled, since I’m traumatized by the sheets at my college apartment constantly being stained brown—we’ve all been through that phase.
I decided to wait about an hour and a half before rinsing because I love a deeper look. The final look continued to develop overnight, so when I woke up in the morning, I was seamlessly bronze and glowy. The result was perfectly toned for my olive skin—I looked like I had just returned from a two-week vacation in Capri (hence the fitting name of the tanner).
In short—I’m completely obsessed with the result and how confident I feel. Winter scaries = cured. Although I do have to say… My favorite part of the whole experience was the soundtrack.
